An impaired mother fell asleep in a motel tub while holding her baby causing the child’s death, Louisville Police said.
Amber Winstead, 36, admitted she had been doing drugs “sporadically” throughout the day before getting in to the tub with her baby girl early on Jan. 1.

Police were called to a Motel 6 at around 4:40 a.m. when someone woke Winstead up and she found out that her 3-month-old had drowned.
Winstead’s other daughter told cops the mother was holding the victim and fell asleep in the tub.
The mother’s other children were placed with a grandmother following her arrest.
