Skeletal remains found in Illinois park identified as missing Minnesota man

Authorities in Will County, Illinois positively identified skeletal remains found in a local park last December as a missing Minneapolis man.

The remains of David A. McCord, 36, were discovered in a wooded area of Hidden Lakes Park on Dec. 14 by a person looking for dead antlers.

Investigators found an ID of McCord at the scene and determined that he was reported missing in July.

  • Bolingbrook Police contacted authorities in Minneapolis and obtained a DNA sample from McCord’s mother.

    On Thursday, the coroner’s office confirmed the remains as McCord’s.

    Authorities are now working to identify a human skull found last October in the same area where McCord’s remains were discovered.
