Arizona teen charged in death of accomplice during home invasion

An Arizona teen was charged with murder in the death of his accomplice during a home invasion last month.

Michael Valles, 19, and Carlos Pardo Espericueta were among a group of suspects who broke into a Laveen Village home on Dec. 16.

An exchange of gunfire between the suspects and a resident ended with the fatal shooting of Espericueta. Several residents of the home suffered minor injuries.

  • The suspects fled the scene on foot but police were able to identify Valles as one of them.

    He surrendered to police and was booked on several counts including armed robbery and first-degree burglary.

    Following Espericueta’s death on Dec. 27, Valles was booked on murder charges though it remains unclear if he fired the fatal shot that killed his accomplice.
