3 teens die in crash after slamming into tree during police chase

Three teens are dead and three others wounded after their stolen car slammed into a tree during a police chase in north Harris County early Wednesday.

The crash occurred at 12:16 a.m. on Rolling Terrace Drive near the intersection of Louetta Road and Kuykendahl Road, HCSO Major John Nanny said.

A deputy attempted to stop a stolen vehicle when it took off at high speeds, reaching 90 miles per hour.

  • “The pursuit lasted approximately 40 to 45 seconds. The driver of the fleeing vehicle could not make the turn in the neighborhood and struck a tree,” Nanny added.

    Three of the six teens who were in the vehicle died at the scene. The others were hospitalized in stable condition.

    Deputies found masks, screwdrivers, and hammers from the scene. They suspected burglary activity but the investigation remains ongoing.

    The crash is being treated as an in-custody death since it occurred during a police chase.
