A Portage Township high school secretary and her husband were killed, and their 21-year-old daughter was severely wounded after a “domestic disturbance” on Black Friday.
Officers found Brandy Manville, 46, and her 45-year-old husband Charles deceased with gunshot wounds. Their daughter Hayleigh was also shot three times and hospitalized in a critical condition.
Police responded to the home in the 6300 block of Monument Avenue at around 7:41 p.m. after receiving a call about a “domestic disturbance.”
The caller said her father was intoxicated, armed, and throwing items. The dispatcher could hear the man screaming in the background, "everyone’s going to die."
Brandy was an employee at Portage High School for a decade. She was fondly remembered as a smiling and welcoming person who “touched the lives of so many,”
“I have 2,200 kids. Almost everyone of them know who Mrs. Manville is, so as you might understand, it’s going to be whatever the kids need as much. As we preach education, it will be secondary this week,” Principal Michael Stills said.
