Texas parents accused of inflicting ‘extensive injuries’ to toddler daughter, killing her

Authorities in Texas have arrested the parents of a 3-year-old girl who died Thursday from extensive injuries.

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the family’s rural Donna home and found the severely injured girl.

The toddler was rushed to Edinburg Children’s Hospital, where she died about an hour later, authorities said.

Investigators said the child “suffered extensive injuries, including bruises, lacerations, burns, and bite marks, indicating prolonged abuse.”

    The victim’s mother, 25-year-old Wendy Rivera, admitted to knowing about her daughter’s injuries.

    She was charged with failure to report a felony and injury to a minor.

    US Marshals arrested the child’s father, 23-year-old Jose Manuel Uresti, on the Anzalduas International Bridge in McAllen Saturday. He faces capital murder charges.
