Authorities in Ellis County, Texas are investigating a neighborhood after the discovery of an infant’s remains in a trash truck Thursday.
Deputies responded to the Glen Eagles housing development, a gated community with 108 high-end homes, at around 2 p.m.
A sanitation crew with DCI Sanitation discovered the remains after pulling onto a street while working their route in the area.
A witness described the remains as belonging to a child the age of an infant or a newborn.
Ellis County deputies started an active and ongoing investigation to determine where the remains were exactly picked up.
Investigators will also retrace the path of the sanitation truck and review doorbell cameras.
A forensic analysis of the remains will determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
