Newborn found in alleyway was dropped from 4th-floor window: LAPD

A deceased newborn found in a Skid Row alleyway Thursday was likely dropped from a fourth-floor window, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

Paramedics pronounced the infant dead at the scene in the 500 block of San Pedro Street around 5:30 a.m.

    Authorities said a woman who had been hospitalized earlier that night for pelvic bleeding was arrested for questioning.

    California has a Safely Surrendered Baby law that allows parents or guardians to surrender newborns under 72 hours old to hospitals or fire stations confidentially and without questions.
