A Michigan teen was found dead Friday, weeks after he went missing after a police encounter in Rockford.
Cortez McConer Jr.,16, was last seen alive with two friends on November 2 outside a McDonald’s where the three teens tried to flee from officers for unknown reasons.
The two friends were later located and a search involving Grand Rapids Police, Kent County deputies, and Michigan State Police started for McConer.
The boy was ultimately found deceased “in a secluded and heavily wooded area near Rockford,” police said.
“This is not the outcome we had hoped for,” said Chief Eric Winstrom.
“On behalf of GRPD, we send our heartfelt condolences to Cortez’s family and friends and the many in our community who will be grieving alongside them.”
