A Bronx man took his own life in the middle of a street after killing his parents late Wednesday, authorities said.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting at a three-story apartment building on Southern Boulevard in South Bronx at around 9:30 p.m.
The 34-year-old perpetrator of the double murder-suicide shot himself in the torso and head and was found slumped in a pool of blood.
Officers entered the building to find the man’s parents dead in a second-floor apartment.
“It sounded like bangs, so I didn’t think anything of it,” a neighbor said describing the shooting.
The neighbor said he passed the son, then still alive, sitting on the steps to the apartment as he walked to the deli and once again when he returned to his home.
Minutes later, the neighbor heard more gunshots. The man took his own life.
“He was sitting on the steps. I heard the shots. He was sitting down. He was sitting dead. I saw the gun from the window. It was next to him on the ground.”
