Cincinnati boy, 5, fatally shot while sleeping in bed

A Cincinnati boy succumbed Saturday to gunshot wounds he sustained two days earlier in a drive-by shooting, authorities said.

5-year-old Artagist Stanford III was shot in his bed Thursday at around 5 a.m. when someone fired three to four shots into a home on Holland Drive near Vivian Place in Winton Hills.

Police Chief Teresa Theetge said investigators have not identified a suspect and the motive of the shooting remains unclear.

    “I’m scared Imma get shot. They shoot any time of the day. They don’t care,” a teen girl said.

    “I couldn’t imagine my brother getting shot in the neck and dying,” she said of her little brother who is Stanford’s age.

    “(Things have gotten so bad) to the point where I don’t want my little brother to come outside and play ‘cause I’m scared he’s going to get shot’.”
