Authorities in Cincinnati, Ohio are investigating a massacre after three family members were found stabbed to death Thursday morning.
Patricia McCollum, 78, and her two adoptive children, 32-year-old DJ McCollum, and 11-year-old Cadence McCollum, were found stabbed to death inside a Springbrook Drive home at around 8 a.m. Thursday.
The suspect, later identified as 66-year-old Anthony Mathis, barricaded himself inside the residence for “a couple” of hours as police negotiated his surrender.
When officers ultimately gained access to the residence, they found Mathis with fatal self-inflicted stab wounds.
Investigators are now working to determine how the suspect and victims were related.
“It’s unbelievable and it’s hard for us to digest because a member of our community who we valued is gone and individuals that were young are gone,” a neighbor said.
