An elderly Michigan man was arrested this week after he allegedly slit an innocent girl’s throat at Detroit park.
Gary Lansky, 73, approached the 7-year-old girl while she played at Ryan Park in Detroit Tuesday afternoon.
“A guy came up to me. He pulled my face up and then in the other hand was a knife. He just came out of nowhere and slid the knife on me,” victim Saida Mashrah said.
The girl kicked the suspect, screamed, and ran before neighbors heard the screams and rushed to her rescue.
“I just immediately…grabbed some gauze pads, and put them on her…to help her and help stop the bleeding,” witness Donna Mockbil said.
“She goes, ‘Oh, I’m going to die and nobody is going to be here with me,’ and I started getting tears in my eyes.”
The witness’s son followed Lansky and caught him. The suspect has been charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault.
“They said that she’s lucky, she’s very lucky. It was really deep, the cut,” the victim’s mother said.
