Cuban reggae star El Taiger fights for life after Miami shooting

A Cuban reggae star is clinging to life after he was found with a gunshot wound to the head in Miami early Thursday morning.

El Taiger, born Jose Manuel Carbajal Zadivar remains in critical condition after officers found him shot inside a black Mercedes SUV at around 7 a.m. Thursday.

The singer was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he was placed on life support.

The 37-year-old victim’s manager Macel Reinosa said police have a person of interest who knows the singer and who made the 911 call.

  • “Nobody in the team believes that he committed suicide, based on what they are saying on the bullet,” Reinosa said.

    “It was in the front of his head so I would really doubt someone would shoot himself and then get on the back of the trunk by himself.”

    Miami Police Chief Manuel Morales declined to elaborate on the circumstances leading up to the shooting citing the ongoing investigation’s integrity.

    “We’re confident that we’ll get to the bottom of this and solve this incident,”

    “It is a tragic incident that has shaken our local South Florida community.”
