Marion County news, Indiana news.

An elderly Indiana woman is facing neglect charges after she allegedly left her disabled daughter on the ground for a week because she wanted her to “get up on her own.”

The 40-year-old victim managed to call 911 and seek help on Sept. 13 using a coat hanger to reach the cellphone.

Police said the victim who is “diagnosed with Cerebral palsy, paralysis on the left side” and “other physical/mental impairments” fell out of bed a week earlier and was left on the ground.

Her mother and caregiver, 75-year-old Rose Chavis, reportedly knew of her condition and did not help her, only providing her with food and water.
