Three earthquakes rocked California in less than two days fueling residents’ fear of a major seismic event.
The streak started at 12:33 p.m. local time Wednesday when a 3.0 magnitude quake hit four miles northwest of Walker.
A 2.9 magnitude tremor followed at 10:45 a.m., striking 10 miles northeast of Barstow.
And a 2.6 magnitude quake was later reported two miles east of Pacheco, at 5:40 p.m. local time.
The earthquakes were considered minor and did not cause damages or injuries but residents reported feeling the ground shake.
California broke its record of the most magnitude 4 and above earthquakes in a single year last month.
U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones said that heightened seismic activity is not an evident sign of a looming Big One.
