Arizona man admits to killing mother after decapitated body found in locked home

An Arizona man was taken into custody hours after the decapitated body of his mother was discovered by concerned family members Friday night.

Teresa DeJesus Cruz Rubio missed a birthday party she planned to attend with family members that evening triggering their concerns.

The family brought a locksmith to access the 41-year-old woman’s Glendale home and made a grim discovery shortly before midnight.

“The 911 caller stated a family member was inside the house, was deceased, and that the victim’s head had been cut off,” Police Sgt. Bryan Hoskin said.

    He reportedly fled the crime scene in his slain mother’s car and used her phone; he was arrested shortly after 2:30 a.m. Saturday in Phoenix.

    While Gonzalez admitted to stabbing his mother with a kitchen knife and decapitating her body, he claimed another man first attacked her adding that he killed her to relieve her pain.

    Authorities said there was no evidence of another person’s involvement in the case.
