Multiple deaths are confirmed after a small plane crashed and burst into flames while trying to land near a North Carolina airport late Saturday.
The single-engine Cirrus SR22 crashed at 5:55 p.m. near the Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport, the National Transportation Safety Board said.

“Multiple passenger fatalities have been confirmed,” authorities said. Four people are believed to have been onboard the doomed airplane.
The airport remained closed on Sunday. The NTSB is investigating the crash.
