A missing boater was found dead in Grand Canyon National Park Tuesday marking the tourist destination’s 16th fatality this year.
The 71-year-old man was on a private boat trip when he vanished without his hat and water bottle late Monday.

A group of hikers noticed the man’s disappearance and called the park’s communications center later that evening.
Park rangers were dispatched to Lower Nankoweap Camp and used a helicopter to locate the boater’s body around 10 miles downstream.
The Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office and the National Park Service are investigating the death.
