Woman found dead after suspected kidnapper leads police in chase that ended in crash, deadly shootout

A missing Texas woman was found deceased in the SUV of a man suspected of kidnapping her after a house fire that ravaged her Princeton home early Friday.

30-year-old Delisha Evans’ relatives reported her missing after the blaze at around 7:30 a.m.

Authorities launched an investigation and named 33-year-old Ryan Phillips as the main suspect in Evans’ disappearance.

  • The suspect’s Range Rover was located later on Friday in Missouri with troopers launching a pursuit on Interstate 44 near Afton.

    The chase ended in a rollover crash and an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and troopers.

    At the end of the confrontation, Evans and Phillips were found dead.

    It remains unclear whether Evans had been killed before, during, or after the crash and shootout.
