Arizona news.

The parents of an Arizona man arrested Thursday about 35 miles from where Donald Trump was in Sierra Vista have opened up about the allegations that he threatened to assassinate the former president.

Ronald Syvrud, 66, clearly detested Trump according to Lee and Phyllis Syvrud who didn’t believe he was going to follow through on his threats.

“He was filled with hatred,” Phyllis, 89, said. “He drank more and more. He was getting angrier and angrier. I’ve told Lee he needs help.”

The mother recalled how her son called her after the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13.

“His dislike of Trump is as bad as ours. He doesn’t like all his lying but I’ve never heard him make a threat before.”

Neighbors described Syvrud as an “aggressive presence” in the community and a “neighbor from hell.”

“We all celebrated when he was arrested,” one said. “He did the job of getting rid of himself by himself thanks to Trump. He’s definitely got my vote now.”
