Chicago news, Illinois news.

A Chicago teen was shot to death a week before he was set to be named his high school soccer team’s captain.

17-year-old Juan Salgado was also one week away from the beginning of his senior year at Chicago’s Juarez Community Academy when he was tragically gunned down.

His family said the shooting occurred when a teammate of Juan showed up to practice sick Monday afternoon.

“He knew the friend was not feeling well to go back home, and even though he knew he shouldn’t go there, he did because he felt it was the right way to do it for his friend,” Juan’s uncle said.
