Former President Donald Trump unintentionally praised Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom during a Thursday stop at the southern border.
“California, you can’t go into San Francisco. It’s not livable,” Trump told reporters in Cochise County, Arizona.
“Fifteen years ago, it was the best city in the country, one of the best cities in the world, and now you can’t do anything. Look at what she’s done, and now she’s going to be president and she’s going to do the exact same thing.”
Fifteen years ago, Harris was San Francisco’s district attorney. Gavin Newsom was the city’s mayor and both served in those positions from 2004 to 2011.
Newsom took Trump’s remarks for compliments posting on X: “Thanks, @realDonaldTrump!!”
