Authorities in Jennings, Louisiana are investigating after a 10-month-old baby died from being left in a hot car for about two hours.

Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes said the child’s mother couldn’t get in touch with her babysitter Tuesday afternoon and headed to work with the baby in the car.

“It appears the baby was in the car for approximately one and a half to two hours and, um, the baby was unresponsive when the mother came out from work. Then she drove her directly to the hospital,” Semmes said.
