Grand Rapids news, Michigan news.

Former President Donald Trump was joined by his new running mate Sen. JD Vance Saturday as he held his first campaign rally since the assassination attempt a week ago.

“Last week I took a bullet for democracy,” he told roaring crowds.

Trump was his old self when he launched into his usual attack against Democrats asking his supporters who they would like him to face if Biden were to drop out of the race.

He cited Kamala Harris, to the crowds’ boos, and then mentioned Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

“I don’t think we have to go too much further,” he said. “You have a terrible governor who did a terrible job. I’d like to run against her.”

“He’s a weak, pathetic man who can’t run an election. So he indicts his opponent, thinking that’s going to win,”
