A Kentucky mother was arrested Sunday after the decomposing body of her newborn was discovered in the trunk of her car.
Daira Mejia Aguilar, 22, admitted to officers that she gave birth on July 2. She then wrapped the newborn in a blanket which she placed inside a closet.

Days later, the woman reportedly removed the deceased newborn to her car trunk, leaving behind a bloody bag in the closet.
The newborn was reportedly a “full-term in the early stages of decomposition” when found by officers on Sunday.
It remains unclear whether the baby was born alive. Aguilar has been charged with abuse of a corpse.
