A New Jersey mother is accused of killing her two young children who were found stabbed and drowned inside a Lakewood home Tuesday afternoon.
27-year-old Naomi Elkins was arrested and charged with two counts of murder in addition to other charges in connection to the shocking crime.
Lakewood Police officers and Hatzolah Medical Services responded to the family home shortly before 5 p.m. over reports of two children in cardiac arrest.
The children, ages 1 and 3 years old, couldn’t be saved and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators determined that the 1-year-old child suffered stab wounds and that both children were drowned.
Elkins was identified as the suspect in her children’s deaths. She was taken into custody without incident and booked into Ocean County Jail.
