An 8-year-old Missouri girl died Thursday morning after suffering a health issue while on a Chicago-bound flight.
Sydney Weston became “suddenly ill” on the plane while traveling with her family for a vacation.
Flight personnel helped the girl and her family until they arrived at Peoria International Airport for a diverted landing.

The plane landed in Peoria at 7 a.m. and deputies were made aware of the situation.
First responders administered life-saving measures to the child who had stopped breathing and had no pulse at the time.
Weston was declared dead at a hospital at 8:05 a.m.
An autopsy to determine the girl’s cause of death was scheduled for Friday.
