Girl, 6, dies in freak accident after brother’s badminton racket broke; shaft struck her head

A 6-year-old girl is dead days after a freak accident that saw her brother’s badminton racket break sending a metal shaft piercing her skull.

The children were on a lakeside family vacation in Limerick when tragedy struck on June 1.

Lucy Morgan’s skull was pierced by a metal shaft from the broken racket and she sustained a fatal brain injury.

The girl passed at the Maine Medical Center in Portland early Wednesday surrounded by her parents and three siblings.

    A GoFundMe to help the grieving family with Lucy’s funeral has raised more than $93,000.

    Her father thanked well-wishers who sent the family hundreds of supportive messages.

    “Ninety percent of the messages I get I have no idea who they are from. You are amazing people used by God to bring comfort,” Jesse Morgan said.
