Loved ones of a 9-year-old Milwaukee boy are seeking justice after he was struck by a stray bullet and killed while in his bed Thursday.
Jonael Zambrano was shot shortly after midnight Thursday when bullets fired in the backyard pierced through windows as the family slept.
“He was a very happy and friendly kid,” the victim’s cousin said. “He was so fun.”
“Sadly, one shot him in his head that ended his life. He was just a 9-year-old boy that had his whole future ahead of him. We want justice for him. It’s not fair.”
No arrests have been made in connection to the fatal shooting that marked the 6th of a Milwaukee child this year.
“It’s terrible. I mean, these are things that should not happen,” said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson.
