Disneyland employee suffers fatal injuries at theme park

A Disneyland employee died Friday from fatal head injuries sustained at the theme park, Anaheim authorities said.

Officers responded to the Disneyland Resort at around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday over reports of a woman who fell from a moving golf cart in the backstage area of the park.

The victim struck her head and was taken to a hospital for treatment but succumbed to her wounds two days later.

  • The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased employee as 60-year-old Bonnye Mavis Lear of Fullerton.

    She worked in membership support services at Club 33 restaurant and lounge in the New Orleans Square area of the theme park.

    “We are heartbroken by the loss of Bonnye and offer our sincere condolences to everyone who cares for her,” said Disneyland Resort President Ken Potrock.

    “We are focused on supporting her family and our cast members through this tragic event and making sure they have the resources they need.”
