A tragic workplace accident claimed the life of a garbage truck driver at a Phoenix semiconductor facility Wednesday afternoon.
Police said that 41-year-old Cesar Anguiano-Guitron died at around 3 p.m. at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company plant in an accident triggered by an issue in his tractor-trailer.
The victim was taking garbage away using the tractor-trailer that stores the trash under pressure, officials said.
When Anguiano-Guitron went to inspect the issue, the tank released an “uncontrolled pressure” while expelling an object that hit the man, throwing him more than 20 feet away.
Anguiano-Guitron died from his injuries at a local hospital. No other employees or workers were harmed in the incident.
The deadly accident occurred at the construction site of an advanced semiconductor manufacturing plant that would supply the market with leading-edge microchips for powering smartphones and vehicles.
