NYC Girl, 13, charged for accidentally shooting younger brother while playing with gun

A New York City girl was charged last week after she accidentally shot her younger brother while playing with a loaded gun earlier this month.

The 13-year-old girl was reportedly visiting family with her 11-year-old brother and other children on April 8 when the shooting occurred.

As the children played in the hallway, the teen pulled out a gun and began showing it off, showing how she could hide it in the palm of her hand.

  • NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said that the gun discharged hitting the girl’s brother in the left arm.

    The boy was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where he received treatment for a fractured arm.

    During questioning, he claimed a man wearing a hoodie shot him outside the apartment building.

    Further investigation led to his sister’s arrest on charges of criminal possession of a weapon.
