Police in Buffalo, New York said Monday that the remains of a missing boy who vanished nearly four years ago were found inside a home on Friday.

The death of 12-year-old Jaylen Griffin is now being investigated as a homicide after his remains were discovered inside a home around 5 miles away from where he vanished on August 4, 2020, after leaving his home to an area convenience store.

Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said that the remains indicated the boy had been dead “for a considerable amount of time.”
