Police were called to a West Palm Beach garbage dump late Tuesday after a worker discovered human remains in a trash load.
The remains were found at the Solid Waste Authority’s renewable energy facility in the area where the garbage trucks come and unload the trash.
A worker clearing away the load made the gruesome discovery and alerted their managers at the facility.
Investigators responded to the scene and spent hours Tuesday night digging through garbage using rakes and their hands.
The remains belonged to an infant though little information regarding the decedent was disclosed.
Authorities hope to track down the culprit through the truck that brought the remains to the facility.
The identification procedure will likely involve DNA and genealogy, they said.
