A Michigan motorist was killed in a freak accident Tuesday when a detached tire from another car flew off and crashed into his windshield, police said.
The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. in Washtenaw County when the front tire of a Dodge Journey traveling westbound on Interstate 94 near State Street detached and went over the median wall.

The wheel crashed into an eastbound Chevy Malibu, destroying the roof and fatally striking a 49-year-old Dearborn Heights resident in the head.
Investigators said that the victim died at the scene. Impairment was not involved in the incident.
