SUV crashes into Michigan Walmart hurting 7 people after driver suffers medical emergency

An SUV plowed into a Canton, Michigan Walmart Friday afternoon hurting seven people.

The crash occurred at around 1:30 p.m. when the car slammed into the building at 39500 Ford Road.

Police believe the driver suffered a medical emergency when he drove through the door of the business and went roughly 50 feet inside it.

  • At least seven people who were inside the store suffered injuries including a child. Officials said material damages are estimated to be in the thousands.

    “We are aware of the incident at our Canton, MI store. The store is currently closed while we work with law enforcement. We will refer all questions to them,” Walmart officials said.

    Witnesses recalled hearing what “sounded like a bomb” and seeing “everything was flying everywhere.”

    “I saw a lady that was standing there. She was bleeding from her face, so I ran down another aisle and I grabbed sanitary napkins, and I gave it to her to put on her cut,” one recalled.
