Car crashes into Texas hospital emergency room killing 1, wounding 5

At least one person was killed and five others wounded Tuesday when a car crashed into a hospital emergency room in Austin, Texas.

Police said the driver of the car died at the scene after smashing the silver sedan into the lobby of the emergency room at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center at around 5:30 p.m.

The injured victims were in the ER at the time of the crash. Four of them, including a child and an adult in critical condition, were taken to other hospitals for treatment.

    Dr. Peter DeYoung said the crash caused minor damage to the ER but no ambulances were being accepted.

    “We’re hoping to kind of regroup here over the night and see where tomorrow leaves us,” he said.
