A young Michigan man retched from shock this week as a judge sentenced him to serve 100 years in jail for torturing and starving his younger, autistic brother to death.
Paul Ferguson, 21, was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 100 years in prison by Judge Matthew Kacel who defied sentencing guidelines of a maximum of 15 years behind bars.
Ferguson and his mother Shanda Vander Ark were convicted of child abuse in the death of 15-year-old Timothy Ferguson.
He and the 44-year-old mother, who was also convicted of murder, tormented the disabled, non-verbal victim with ice baths and hot sauce.
Timothy passed away in July 2022 weighing just 69 pounds hours after he was put for nine hours in an ice bath.
Paul blamed his mother and lack of self-esteem for his sadistic acts insisting that he regrets torturing Timothy and pleading for mercy.
“The court believes Mr. Ferguson is one step away from becoming a psychopath like his mother,” Judge Kacel said at the sentencing.
