A Chicago girl was tragically killed Thursday when she was struck by a train on her way to school, police said.
Marin Lacson, 17, reportedly waited for a train to pass before crossing the tracks, only to be struck by a second train that emerged from the dense fog.
Her body was found on the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. A witness described a “devastating accident” that was “all over in seconds.”
The witness added that the tragic teen did not notice the train coming from the other direction until it “came out of the fog.”
Hours later, Barrington High School released a statement confirming the death of the junior student and Lacrosse player.
“She was one of the funniest people you’ll ever meet,” a tearful teammate said of Lacson.
“And so bright and really, it’s cliché, but really lit up a room, was honestly so nice to everyone she ever met.”
