Girl, 12, struck and killed while fleeing another crash in Illinois

An Illinois girl was tragically killed Wednesday evening when she was struck by oncoming traffic while fleeing the scene of an initial crash.

At around 8:30 p.m., the 12-year-old’s family was riding a Nissan Rogue when it “did not properly yield” to a Toyota Rav 4 at an intersection and struck its driver’s side.

  • The girl fled the wreck and ran from the crash when she was hit by another car. She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

    The victim was identified as 12-year-old Gianna Lamb. She had just left a youth ministry event when she was struck and killed.

    “She always put others first with her caring and tender heart. Her smile and presence were powerful,” a GoFundMe reads.
