An Illinois girl was tragically killed Wednesday evening when she was struck by oncoming traffic while fleeing the scene of an initial crash.
At around 8:30 p.m., the 12-year-old’s family was riding a Nissan Rogue when it “did not properly yield” to a Toyota Rav 4 at an intersection and struck its driver’s side.
The girl fled the wreck and ran from the crash when she was hit by another car. She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The victim was identified as 12-year-old Gianna Lamb. She had just left a youth ministry event when she was struck and killed.
“She always put others first with her caring and tender heart. Her smile and presence were powerful,” a GoFundMe reads.
