A Mississippi mother was charged with first-degree murder Saturday after her son’s body was found in a false wall inside her home.
66-year-old Jerri Lynn Isreal’s arrest came weeks after officers first visited her Gulfport residence for a welfare check on a missing person and noticed inconsistencies in her statements during questioning.
“Throughout the course of the investigation, Isreal became increasingly uncooperative and changed her statements multiple times,” the Gulfport Police Department said.
After they learned that Isreal was convicted of murder in Florida three decades ago, investigators obtained a search warrant of the woman’s house and made the gore discovery on January 18.
The body of a man identified as 42-year-old John Allen Gaither was found inside a wooden box behind a false wall inside the residence.
Police confirmed Gaither was Isreal’s son. Isreal was later hospitalized for consuming a large amount of pills.
