The human remains found inside a freezer at a recently sold property in Grand Junction, Colorado were a severed head and a set of hands, police said.
The gore discovery was made by the new buyers of the two-story building on the 2900 block of Pinyon Avenue as they cleaned up the front yard.
Investigators could not immediately determine the identity of the victim or their cause of death.
The Mesa County Sheriff’s Office said further testing will be required to get more information adding that it would take a “significant amount of time.”
“A thorough and detailed investigation is the top priority. Our hope is to positively identify the victim while remaining respectful of the victim and the victim’s family.”
