One person died and 22 others needed treatment for various injuries after a tour bus rolled over on its way from Canada to New York City.
Authorities said that at around 1 p.m. Friday, the bus rolled over on Interstate 87 between Lake George and Warrensburg in upstate New York.
FlixBus, the company that operates the bus, confirmed that there were 23 people on board including the driver when the crash unfolded.
Warren County Administrator John Taflan said that most passengers were Canadian and that the long-distance bus originated in Montreal.
“At all times, the safety of passengers and drivers is of the highest importance to FlixBus,” a statement from FlixBus reads.
“FlixBus is deeply shocked about what happened and sends its deepest condolences to the victim’s relatives and friends and expresses its full support to the passengers and drivers affected by this accident.”
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul released a statement on social media.
“I join New Yorkers in praying for all involved in this horrific incident & am grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders.”
