A teen suspect was shot to death early Sunday after he went on a stabbing spree killing four relatives and slashing two cops.
Officers were called to a home at 467 Beach 22nd Street around 5:10 a.m. Sunday by a teen girl who reported that her cousin was “killing her family members.”
The suspect was caught attempting to flee with luggage in tow. He reportedly slashed two officers.
“As they get to the driveway they see a male walking out. He’s carrying luggage. The officers asked the male a question or two, an encounter that lasted about 10 seconds, where the male draws a knife on our officers. He stabs one officer in the neck/chest area and strikes the second officer in the head,” NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey said.
The suspect was shot by a third officer, a 28-year veteran of the force, as firefighters arrived to extinguish a fire that erupted at the home.
A female child was discovered dead from stab wounds outside the residence while three other family members were found dead inside the home.
The suspect was later identified as 39-year-old Courtney Gordon. Another stabbing victim was listed in critical condition.
“This shows that police officers never know what they’re responding to, what’s awaiting them on that scene,” said PBA President Patrick Hendry.
“This scene was chaos; multiple victims, a house on fire, and a madman on a rampage, on a mission.”
