Three football players were among six people killed in a deadly crash in Houston on Saturday.
Former NFL star D.J. Hayden and his two University of Houston football teammates Zach McMillian and Ralph Oragwu died in the crash involving a speeding car at around 2 a.m. Saturday.
Assistant Chief Megan Howard said that the players were inside an Acura SUV when a female driver sped through a red light and slammed her Chrysler 300 into them.
Four people died on impact including the Chrysler’s driver. Among the six deceased was also a homeless man sleeping nearby.
Two victims sustained injuries with one listed in critical condition.
Hayden, 33, had survived a 95 percent fatal injury he sustained during practice in 2013. He was then drafted by the then-Oakland Raiders.
The two-time All-Conference USA honoree played nine seasons in the NFL recording 328 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and four interceptions in 92 games.
