NY man dies while running physical fitness test to join fire department

A New York man suffered a deadly medical emergency while running a physical fitness test to join the fire department on Tuesday.

32-year-old Alexander Griffin was declared dead at the hospital despite the immediate medical care he received at the scene.

“Our hearts are with the family as they grieve this tragic loss,” the department said.

Griffin, who was aspiring to get a spot in an upcoming academy class, leaves behind his mother, brother, and wife.

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of Alexander Griffin’s untimely passing,” a GoFundMe for the family read.

“He was a young man full of dreams and aspirations, but tragically, his journey was cut short while pursuing those dreams.”
