Washington DC news, Washington news.

President Joe Biden signed a temporary funding bill late Saturday lifting the threat of an imminent federal government shutdown after Congress raced against time to pass the bipartisan deal.

The bill, which funds the government until November 17, increases federal disaster assistance by $16 billion but drops aid to Ukraine ending days of grueling discord in the House.

“This good news for the American people,” Biden said stressing that the United States “cannot under any circumstances allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted.”
