Washington DC news, Washington news.

As he left Friday’s failed vote on the House floor, Speaker Kevin McCarthy was sincere about the situation telling reporters he was “broke.”

With a government shutdown looming and House Republicans seeming further away from reaching a spending measure, McCarthy was asked what was the “logical next step” he plans on taking.

“Keep working and make sure we solve this problem,” he replied.

The Senate is said to be working on a bipartisan continuing resolution aiming to fund the government until November 17, delaying the imminent shutdown and giving Congress more time to work out the funding bill.
