A homeowner was charged with murder after he allegedly shot and killed a teen filming pranks in his Virginia backyard early Saturday.
Tyler Chase Butler, 27, was charged with second-degree murder, malicious wounding, and two counts of use of a firearm.
Police said Butler opened fire at three teens filming TikTok videos outside his home at around 3 a.m., killing 18-year-old Michael Bosworth Jr. and hurting another teen.
The homeowner told police he thought the teens were trying to break into his residence.
The boys told officers they were filming ding-dong ditch pranks for TikTok and showed them previous videos.
Bosworth was a senior and a lacrosse and football player at Massaponax High School.
“I’m sorry the kid did that. I wish he hadn’t done what he did because he had to pay the ultimate price. Nobody likes that. Nobody. Not even the homeowner,” a neighbor said.
